3 Magic Words to Change your Life Forever

January 21, 2022

171,476.

That’s how many words there are (give or take) in the English language as of 2021.

And while that’s a lot of possibilities I want to talk about how you can use just three of those words to change your life forever.

It all begins by answering a single question:

What three words would you use to describe the best version of yourself, the person you are trying to become or perhaps, find again?”

I know that when you’ve been through a breast cancer experience, no matter how recent or long ago, it changes you. It changes the way you see yourself.

Maybe you feel like Miley Cyrus atop a wrecking ball, swinging wildly between wishing for the “you” you were before you heard those other three words (“you have cancer”) and a desperate search to find your “new normal”.

But what does that even mean? And what if you can’t go back to normal? What if you don’t really want to?

So please take a moment to ponder your answer to this question.

Think about who you wish you were now or want to be again.

If forever feels too big focus just on this year. Would you describe her as…

  • Healing.
  • Resilient.
  • Happy.
  • Loving.
  • Self-Compassionate.
  • Hopeful.
  • Strong.
  • Beautiful.
  • Safe.

What three words describe YOU as you want to see yourself? Once you’ve picked your three words, here’s what I encourage you to do:

Get a Post-it note (any color will do) and write at the top “I AM…”. Write your three aspirational words below that. Then, stick the Post-it note to your bathroom mirror.

You want these three words to be the first thing you see in the morning and the last thing you see before climbing into bed at night.

Each morning, as you’re brushing your teeth, dwell on those three words.

Look at yourself in the mirror and see yourself thinking, speaking, and behaving as someone who FULLY BELIEVES and EMBODIES your three words.

Imagine how you can live out those three words at home and at work; within yourself and within your relationships, including your relationship with your body.

At night, when you’re brushing your teeth before bed, again, reflect on those three special words you wrote on your Post-it note.

Ask yourself, “Did I live my three words today? How did I show myself that these words are true for me? And how can I continue tomorrow?”

By doing this, you’re commanding all of your innate energies, both conscious and subconscious, to see yourself as the person YOU want to be or become.

It’s a simple practice. But it is very powerful and I hope you’ll try it.

And I’d love to hear the three words you chose to describe who you hope to be and describe who, I would guess, you probably already are.

To share them with me hit reply or click the button below and put “my three words” in the subject line. If you do I’ll reply with mine.

I hope to hear from you.
